I.Forum Introduction
The "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau" Greater Bay Area AI for Science Doctoral Forum is an academic exchange event supported by Peking University's "Graduate Education Innovation Program" and hosted by Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. The first forum invited Academician Zongben Xu of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University to give a report, attracting over 100 doctoral students from universities such as the University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macau University of Science and Technology, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-sen University, Southern University of Science and Technology, and Shenzhen University. This laid the foundation for building an ecosystem for cultivating doctoral students in AI for Science (AI4S) in the Greater Bay Area.
Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School is the only off-campus institution of Peking University, co-founded by Peking University and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. After more than 20 years of development, it has become a research-oriented and international campus rooted in Shenzhen, serving as a key strategic component for Peking University to become a world-class university. In recent years, the Graduate School has adhered to the development philosophy of "problem-oriented, north-south collaboration, AI-driven, and innovative integration," prioritizing AI for Science as a strategic focus. It has built an automated and intelligent experimental platform featuring "AI empowerment and integration of dry and wet experiments," established interdisciplinary research projects for AI for Science, applied for the addition of an interdisciplinary subject in AI for Science, and founded the first School of AI for Science. It implements an integrated undergraduate-master-doctoral training program for high-level AI talents, adopts a dual 导师 system of "AI + Science" to cultivate interdisciplinary talents, and has established joint laboratories with enterprises such as Rabbit Exhibition Intelligence, Zhicun Technology, and Yiling Pharmaceutical, creating a win-win ecosystem of university-local collaboration and innovation in talent cultivation, academic research, and regional industries in Shenzhen.
The 2nd forum is scheduled to be held in Shenzhen in September 2025, with the theme of "AI for Science." It will adopt forms such as academic reports and poster exchanges to discuss cutting-edge academic issues in AI for Science, share the latest research results, and prospect future development trends. The forum plans to include one main forum (expert reports) and three sub-forums (doctoral reports) on AI for Materials, AI for Biology, and AI for Robotics. Additionally, it will feature poster exchanges, laboratory visits, and enterprise visits, aiming to present a "panoramic view" of AI for Science from academia to industry to doctoral students.
Each sub-forum plans to arrange 5 oral presentations. We are now openly calling for papers related to AI for Materials, AI for Biology, and AI for Robotics from doctoral students. The organizing committee will select oral presenters for the sub-forums from the submissions.
We warmly welcome students (especially doctoral students from universities and research institutions in the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau" Greater Bay Area) to submit their works!
