Currently, the scientific and technological revolution is incredibly magnificent; now, the driving force of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is right before our eyes. AI for Science (AI4S) is breaking through the limitations of human cognition with an unstoppable momentum; AI4S unleashes powerful productivity, driving humanity to explore new frontiers. The calls for AI4S to become a source of intelligent dynamism through national strategies, industrial transformation, interdisciplinary studies, and cross-disciplines have never ceased; looking ahead a hundred years, AI4S provides the answer to how to accelerate the advancement of science and technology. How to achieve the transition from the fifth paradigm of scientific research to the formation of cross-disciplines is a problem that AI4S needs to solve.

Disciplines have never had fixed boundaries; they are in a constant state of flux, developing through mutual intersection and integration, maintaining a certain tension between division and combination. When the original disciplinary system cannot solve our existing problems, it will naturally prompt researchers from different disciplines to gather together, learn from each other and cooperate, and carry out interdisciplinary research. Currently, the AI4S research model, which is an intersection of AI and multiple disciplines, continuously yields breakthrough results, gradually breaking through the original disciplinary paradigms and forming new research methods and academic communities.

As a benchmark university in higher education, how will Peking University play a leading role in this transformation from science to industry driven by AI for Science? In the current context where no academic institution has institutionalized the promotion of AI for Science innovation and development in the form of disciplines, how do we move towards the future? Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School plans to organize frontline teachers and experts and scholars from different disciplines across the university to discuss and exchange ideas around the topic of "AI4S Interdisciplinary Construction Path", stimulating thinking from aspects such as theoretical systems, research methods, talent training models, curriculum system construction, and academic evaluation standards, in order to gather ideas and reach a consensus.
