Faculty Profile
Li Yuan, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor, Researcher, and Ph.D. Supervisor at theSchool of Al for Science, Peking University.He was selected for the National High-Level Young Talent Program and leads a National Science and Technology Major Project on New Generation Artificial Intelligence as Project Leader, as well as multiple projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He received the First Prize for Science and Technology Progress at the 2025 Guangdong Excellence in Artificial Intelligence Awards (2/10). His research focuses on multimodal machine learning. He has published more than 50 papers as first and/or corresponding author in leading international journals and conferences, including Nature Computational Science, Nature Communications, TPAMI, CVPR, ICLR, and ICML. His work has received more than 20,000 citations. Representative application-oriented projects include ChatExcel and the Open-Sora Plan open-source video generation project, which has received over 10,000 GitHub stars.
